How to Get Involved

Volunteering Opportunities

NEPHRA Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to brighten up not only your own day but the day of someone else too!

It doesn’t matter what age you are, what experience you’ve got, or even if you’re a little shy. Being involved with NEPHRA is a great way to meet people and make friends. Listed below are just some of the ways you can get involved:

  • You might want to help with the newsletter either writing an article or two, or even just putting them through letterboxes.
  • You might want to serve on tables at the Luncheon Club, or wash a few dishes or just peel some potatoes. You might even be a great cook and want to test out some of your dishes!
  • You might be an avid gardener, or maybe you want to learn how to grow some great vegetables, or maybe you just want some light exercise, whatever the reason, we always need help down on the allotment.
  • Thursdays is always a busy day for us, and we often need help putting out the refreshments at the Parkfield Dance Centre.
  • You might want to get involved with the Moston Brook Steering group, and help shape up our green spaces.
If you feel you’d like to get out of the house, for an hour or two, then give us a call on:

You’ll be assured of a very warm welcome!

Volunteering opportunities at Manchester Civil Justice Centre

The Personal Support Unit (PSU) is a charity supporting unrepresented people at the courts within the Manchester Civil Justice Centre.

This innovative new project is the first of its kind outside London, and has opportunities available for calm, practical and outgoing people interested in volunteering at court.

The prestigious Civil Justice Centre is the largest courts to be built sincethe Royal Courts of Justice in London in 1881, and is situated within the Spinningfields development in the heart of the city centre.

Volunteers will be trained to give assistance to people who for various reasons don’t have lawyers but need practical and emotional support.

You will need to be someone who can deal with people on all levels and who has initiative, a common sense approach, and the ability to empathise with people going through a difficult time.

You do not need any formal qualifications, but life experience and the ability to read and write English are essential.

Travel and lunch expenses are provided.

If you are interested and can spare two days a month, please contact Sarah Harris on: 0161 240 5037 or e-mail manchester@thepsu.co.uk
