Contact Information and 10 minute Interviews

As well as providing residents with the usual contact information, we wanted to try and give some insight into what makes our councillors tick.

We asked our councillors if they’d be prepared to do a quick telephone interview, allowing us to ask a series of quick fire questions which would give a more personal insight into their personalities.

I’m pleased to report that they all agreed, and that the interviews were conducted on the same day within ten minutes of each other. None of the councillors had prior knowledge of the questions to be asked.

1	Where were you brought up?	Manchester - Bradford
2	What Star Sign are You?	Aries
3	Who was your boyhood hero & why?	Bobby Charlton – Because I admired his skill.
4	Which three guests would you invite to dinner & why? (living or dead)	My Mum Dad and Brother – Because they were very important figures in my life.
5	What makes you happy?	My wife and daughter.
6	What makes you sad?	I get sad when I’m trying to help someone and I can’t solve the problem. It can be very frustrating.
7	What is you greatest fear & why?	Growing old on my own.
8	If you had one chance with a magic wand - what would you do with it?	I’d win as much as I could on the lottery and then help as many people as I could.
9	Who would you trade places with for a day & why?	I’d change places with Ronaldo – I’d love to have his skill for a day, and get to sample his life – He must have a fascinating life.
10	If you could have any job in the world, what would it be & why?	I’d have loved to be a professional footballer – It’s most young lads dream.

2	What Star Sign are You?	Capricorn
3	Who was your boyhood hero & why	Enid Blyton – The Famous Five. I’ve fantastic memories of reading those books.
4	Which three guests would you invite to dinner & why? (living or dead)	Alexander the Great – Because of his fantastic leadership qualities and charisma, he changed the nature of the ancient world. My second guest would be Boadicea – because I’d like to know the real truth about what happened in the Iron age. Did the Romans really invade or was it an arrangement made with her husband Prasutagus. My third guest would be Winston Churchill because - as well as being a powerful figure in history himself, I think he’d be fascinated by Boadicea and Alexander the Great.
5	What makes you happy?	Being able to work and to be in good health to carry on that work.
6	What makes you sad?	Deceit – and unfortunately I see a lot of it.
7	What is you greatest fear & why?	The rise of the extreme right – British Nationalist Party, it’d take this country right back to the Stone Age.
8	If you one chance with a magic wand - what would you do with it?	I’d find a cure for Cancer.
9	Who would you trade places with for a day & why?	I’d be the Prime Minister for a day – I’d like to see what the pressure is like, and how decisions are really made.
10	If you could have any job in the world, what would it be & why?	Archaeologist – I’m fascinated by past, especially local history. One of my happiest times was when I was involved in the Moston Dig.

My uncle – my father died when I was only 10 and my uncle took me under his wing and took me to football matches, and did all the things with me that my dad would have done.

Which three guests would you invite to dinner & why? (living or dead)

My Mother, Father and Uncle – Because they were very important to me, my father was a sub mariner, and during the war was reported missing presumed dead. I missed him terribly and always hoped, one day be found alive somewhere.

Feeling I’ve done a good job.

Feelings of having failed someone or not being able to help.

I don’t seem to have a great fear of anything.

I’d make sure my sons and their families were comfortable.
